Denny Hamlin may not have won a championship, but his legacy in NASCAR is already that of a legend. Hamlin has the wins, the stats, the crown jewels, and since the last two seasons, his own team as well. However, it seems that his role as a Joe Gibbs Racing driver and part-owner of 23XI Racing is not enough for the #11 driver.

Perhaps that’s why he decided to venture into podcasting, getting his own show under the media empire of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Hamlin’s show, which is called Actions Detrimental, will have its episodes every Monday once the NASCAR season begins. With the names and the personalities involved in the show, it’s sure to be a big success. But if Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft is to be believed, Hamlin might face a slight issue.

Denny Hamlin will have an “amazing” podcast, but one aspect could be troubling

Speaking in a pre-season appearance for their podcast show Door Bumper Clear, Kraft, alongside fellow spotter Brett Griffin, discussed the potential future of his boss Denny Hamlin’s venture into podcasting.

“I think the podcast will be amazing. Now, the timing of when he’s gonna record this podcast is interesting,” Kraft said.

“Like one of these things, I’m not gonna believe it until I see it, the first one right off the jump, he’s gonna have to record in the middle of the night sometimes, isn’t he?”

Hamlin given incredible tag by spotter Brett Griffin

After Kraft described his thoughts on Hamlin’s upcoming podcast show, Brett Griffin opened up on why “it’s awesome” for the driver-owner to not have his own show, but how the entire ecosystem at Dale Jr’s Dirty Mo Media is a big W for NASCAR.

And he wasn’t done. Griffin followed this up by comparing Hamlin to Dale Earnhardt in the way the championship-less driver–owner is going about his career on both sides of the track.

“I think when you look at Dirty Mo Media as a whole as it pertains to the NASCAR podcast, you got a retired driver with a ton of experience, obviously a Hall of Fame guy, you’ve got three industry insiders,” Griffin said. “And now you’ve got, a current driver who is not only a driver, he’s an owner.”

“Like if I look at him, he’s a modern-day Dale Earnhardt because he’s driving for one team, yet he owns another.”

Griffin claimed that 23XI Racing is on its way to becoming a successful team. “They’re only two years old at the end of last year, both cars were in the playoffs,” he continued.

“The things they’ve been able to do in such a short amount of time, reminds me of the way DEI came to be.”
