Bubba Wallace Learning Michael Jordan’s Philanthropy: “That’s What It’s All About When You Get to a Certain Level in Your Career”

“It’s very important” – This is what NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace said about giving back to the Charlotte community. Wallace has a connection with the city; his boss from the 23XI Racing team, the NBA legend Michael Jordan, owns the NBA team, Charlotte Hornets.

Wallace spoke about his charity work in the last few weeks and how Jordan’s influence has been shaping up his act of giving back.

He said, “We’ve done a lot with my foundation in the last couple of weeks. Especially around Thanksgiving, giving back to families for thanksgiving and putting together our toy drive.”

“This kind of ties on all doing the same – giving back.” 

The Talladega race winner added, “That’s what it’s all about when you get to a certain level in your career. And for me, it feels like the awesome and right thing to do.”

The Alabama-born driver thanked his new sponsor and gave a shout-out to Wheaties for “bringing this opportunity” to them.

Bubba Wallace reflects on Jordan’s impact, his first season with 23XI and the coming one

Wallace spoke of how aspects of Jordan’s personality influence him to win and be better and better.

“Just seeing his competitive edge, his competitive nature, and how he as a person just totally motivates you and moves you to greater heights, to be the best you can be,” he said.

He also spoke about his first year racing with the Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin owned race team, and how it’s been “a heck of a year.”

“We got our first win out of the way so that was really cool, I was able to get MJ his first win in NASCAR as an owner,” he added.

Looking ahead towards the next season, Bubba Wallace expressed his excitement with the new hirings that his team has been doing. “Obviously, we’ve added Kurt (Busch) to the team, so we’ve added a lot of people,” he said.

“We’ve got a lot of new smart faces.”

And as for the objectives next season, Wallace said – “The sky is the limit.”
