Recently, Bubba Wallace made an appearance on Michael Waltrip’s Unfiltered. The two spoke about a variety of subjects and even touched upon what attracted Wallace to the world of NASCAR. Wallace said, “I was a person who didn’t watch, didn’t pay attention to the history. I don’t really know much about the sport’s history.”

Instead, Bubba Wallace was solely focused on just getting into the car and racing. From there, he simply had to look forward to whatever was next for him. Back in 2009, the JJR team recruited him, but he was not about to get ahead of himself.

Instead, he focused on the fact that it could help him financially and help his parents as well. From there, he moved up the rankings to reach the K&N Pro Series East series.

What else did Bubba Wallace say?

The African-American driver recalled an incident in 2011 when he was sitting on the grid. At the time, he had qualified on pole position at Dover.

Bubba also revealed that the race in question had a wild and chaotic finish considering how the leader blew a tyre and he inherited the lead. However, when he was on the grid, his thought process went along the lines of how much fun he had.

So, he had no reason to turn back when he had advanced so far. At that point, he realized that he wanted to continue racing in NASCAR. Bubba Wallace believed that he should continue racing as long as he still had the passion to race.

Since then, Wallace has finally made the big leagues and is regularly rubbing shoulders with Cup Series drivers. Though he has yet to win any Cup race, Bubba Wallace has featured in the Top-10 on nine occasions.
