All is not well at 23XI Racing. Although their confidence and ambitions are still unshaken, the same isn’t translating to their performances. But there’s no reason to panic, according to driver Bubba Wallace.

Speaking in a recent interview, the No.23 driver addressed the struggles he and his team is facing overall, something that co-owner Denny Hamlin also deemed “unacceptable.”

However, Hamlin’s driver is of a different opinion. “It’s a growing program. Obviously, we’re behind with our penalty from COTA,” Wallace said.

The Talladega winner explained that they’re trying to get the “right people in place.” He elaborated that they have a great flow chart of everything that’s going on currently, that it all comes down to, “you doing your job, I’ll do my job and we’ll all do it together.”

“It’s just mistakes that happen that we got to clean up,” Wallace continued. “Race teams have mistakes. We seem to have little bit more than others right now.”

“But (it’s) still early in the season, we’ll be fine.”

Denny Hamlin’s comments on Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing

Ahead of the race at Martinsville, Denny Hamlin was asked to comment on the ongoing situation at 23XI Racing.

Responding to the question after taking a long sigh and shaking his head, the co-owner answered“I said earlier this week you know, it’s just the win like it was really exciting until you get out of the car and look down the pylon and say, ‘What the f**k? What’s going on?’”

“(No.) 23 car, the pit crew is not doing well. I’m in a meeting with Joe Gibbs Racing and I thanked them for everything they do for me and I walk out of that meeting into another, and I’m cussing them out because, you know, we’re just not doing a good enough job over there,” Hamlin continued.

“Hopefully we look back on these two months around and say, ‘It’s just a little bump in the road. Because certainly, it’s not acceptable by any means.”
