Netflix’s recent docu-series, ‘Race: Bubba Wallace’, opened the doors for viewers into the 23XI Racing driver’s life. Fans got to see Bubba Wallace, the ambitious racecar driver, and a person who struggles just like us with self-doubt, anxiety, and even depression.

This was something that was extensively explored in this series, his mental struggles with self and external expectations.

And in a recent interview with CBS News, Bubba Wallace once again addressed the issue of being too hard on himself. Only this time, he hopes he is getting better than what we saw in the docu-series.

“I am my own worst critic,” Wallace said. “You know, when I make a mistake, I’m super hard on myself. And sometimes it’s okay to have a little bit of self-motivation, but when you stoop as low as I do, it’s tough to climb back out of.”

“But I think I’ve graduated from that point in my life hopefully,” he continued.

“I haven’t made a big enough mistake to let my mind tell me otherwise.”

Wallace adds that in the making of this docu-series, they didn’t hold back on anything. “I wanted to show you how mentally, physical, emotionally, everything, draining that the sport is and what it takes to be successful,” he revealed.

“There’s always people out there – ‘NASCAR isn’t a sport,'” Wallace said.
