Bubba Wallace is longer bothered by his haters! And this was plenty evident as he made his way to the NASCAR All-Star Race on May 19. While 2023 might have turned out to be sour experience for the racer, who, despite finishing P2, had to face the unwarranted hate of a critic, this year, in another episide of North Wilkesboro v Bubba Wallace, the #23 driver used some good ‘ol sarcasm and humor to deal with naysayers!

History repeats itself at North Wilkesboro for Bubba Wallace

Bubba Wallace and the North Wilkesboro crowd don’t seem to jam together. And this has been on since last year. Last year after Dale Earnhardt Jr chimed in to revive the North Wilkesboro Speedway, the track saw a special edition of the All-Star Race. This race was sentimental and monumental, but sadly, even this was marred by a post-race incident as someone keyed into Bubba Wallace’s No. 23 23XI Racing team radio channel with a vile message, saying, “Go back to where you came from you a******. You’re not wanted in NASCAR.”

Fast forward to this year’s race and it seems not all has changed!

Bubba Wallace was in the best of moods, finishing second place in the All-Star Open, which qualified him for the main event. But as drivers and teams were introduced to the crowd, he came across a bitter reception from the crowd. Loud boos rained down upon him and, while it must have been tough for him to endure, he even managed to record the insults in a video and post it on his X handle.

But thankfully, it was not all bad for him. As he got in front of the crowd, we could hear some of his supporters. One woman squealed, saying she is his biggest fan, while a man screamed,”‘F— these sons of b——, let’s go Bubba!” Moreover Bubba Wallace has shown immense promise at this race and while his experience hasn’t been best with the crowd, he can still be hopeful to change their viewpoint.

Bubba Wallace is no longer the person he was before

Bubba Wallace is no stranger to the boos. While they seemed to bother him earlier, the driver has evidently been more mature as of late. Notably, the #23 racer has also shown immense growth in his personality. In a recent talk at the ‘Stacking Pennies Podcast with Corey LaJoie’, he talked about the changes, he said, “I was always like, ‘Okay I got to prove to everybody that you know what, I belong here instead of just [being Bubba] and thinking that world is against me and everybody’s out to get me’. There may be some, but I don’t need to invest my time into that anymore, you know, trying to prove everybody right.”

He even shared that he had lost touch with who he was the last couple of years and chased the wrong things. And now things seem to have started to click. He said, “The people that matter, they know what’s right and what’s wrong. I think that’s helped me out a lot. And then showing up to the racetrack and being more comfortable.”

In his statement, we can see his growth and how he acknowledges his mistakes and even expresses his newfound clarity. Hopefully, the boos will soon subside, or even if they don’t, Bubba Wallace sure knows how to handle them now!
