Bubba Wallace’s father, Darrell Wallace Sr, once became emotional while talking in an exclusive interview regarding the aftermath of his son’s garage pull incident that brought out support from every other driver on the grid. Even though his father never appeared in Bubba Wallace’s Netflix documentary, he later showed up in an exclusive with CBS, where he spoke about the controversies he saw his son surrounded by and the fact that multiple other drivers stood beside him in solidarity.

After being asked how Wallace’s father felt after he saw all the drivers support his son before the race, he stated, “I texted to my family, ‘Who’s chopping onions?’ Because they was texting, everybody was crying.” Before he could say anymore Darrell Wallace Sr became overwhelmed with emotions and could not talk further.

However, the relationship between him and his father was not always this rosy. There apparently was a dark time when the relationship between Wallace and his father had soured.
