NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and spotter Freddie Kraft have known each other for quite a long time now. They first worked together when the former was about 17 years old and have stuck with each other for almost every race since.

Kraft has accompanied Wallace through a variety of racing divisions, before joining him at Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) in the Cup Series. In a podcast, the spotter talked to listeners about what his relationship with Wallace is like.

Kraft stated, “Yeah, I think we’re probably the longest now, just overall three series obviously not Cup.”

“I don’t know, it’s just a comfort level for him especially. There’s been a couple of times where either non-companion race when he was in Truck or Xfinity where I couldn’t be there, or even there’s a year where he had another spotter.”

We can ‘kinda read’ each other’s minds, said Freddie Kraft

“And he just said he wasn’t comfortable, it’s a trust factor. Like he kinda knows what I’m gonna ready to say before I say it, I kinda know what he’s ready to do before he does it.”

Kraft recently reminisced over his first-ever race with the 27-year-old, and how the then-teenager Wallace got them off to a winning start. So, having worked together for just about a decade now, the pair have an instinctive understanding with one another.

“We know we can kinda read each other’s minds, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. But yeah, if you listen on our radio, you can tell we’ve been together for long!” concluded Kraft.

Kraft has now teamed up with Bubba Wallace at 23XI Racing as well

After partnering with Bubba in the K&N Series, Kraft continued his journey with him in the Trucks and Xfinity Series as well. They won 12 races in a five-year period during their time in those divisions.

Having spent three seasons at RPM, Kraft then switched to 23XI Racing alongside Wallace. But it has been a rocky start for the pair though, with the No.23 not securing even a top-10 finish thus far.

That said, Wallace has shown a lot more capability with a lot fewer resources. One could hence expect him to strategize with Kraft and come up with a decent run in the forthcoming races.
