The turn of events during the closing race of the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season is just too much for any NASCAR fan to take. And that too, in perhaps the best way possible. And this time it was a payback battle between Carson Hocevar and Corey Heim.

With 31 laps remaining in the 150-lap long race, the regular-season champion cleared Carson Hocevar for fifth, which put him in the lead but unfortunately, not for too long. Hocevar hit Heim’s rear several times, ultimately making the #11 spin out and ram into the side of Stewart Friesen’s #52 Toyota. Heim did not let the matter slide. However, what he did afterward, ruined his shot at the Championship title.

The payback surely hurt Carson Hocevar

Fast forward to the closing laps of the race, NASCAR brought out a yellow flag at the Lucas Oil 150. And that’s because Heim hit Hocevar back. With just 3 laps to go, Heim saw Hocevar sneaking up behind him. Veering to the right, Heim sent the #42 into the outside safety barrier. Perhaps Heim thought that if he was not going to win the title, he was definitely getting his revenge. However, Hocevar didn’t nurture any hard feelings against Heim at all, as he felt, the retaliation from Heim was quite justified.

Moments after the race, Carson Hocevar spoke to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports and looked extremely disappointed and apologetic about his skirmish with Corey Heim. He said, “I just did everything I could to stay there. My only goal was to try to slow him down. I didn’t expect him to be low. “

The crash wrecked both the trucks, which in turn, collected Taylor Gray, who tried hard to avoid the collision but spun in an attempt to do so. The Championship race went overtime with Ben Rhodes and Grant Enfinger as the only Championship contenders.

While Cup Series drivers don’t really need to care a lot about the Truck Series drivers, 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick chose to be different. Interestingly, Reddick and the rest of the Cup drivers are going to race Hocevar in the 2024 season as the latter is slipping the Xfinity Series for a Cup ride with Spire Motorsports.

Tyler Reddick doesn’t seem to be a big fan of Carson Hocevar as he tweeted, “This dumbass will never learn.”

To many, it looked like Reddick was backing up his fellow Toyota driver Corey Heim. On that note, someone said, “TOYOTA DRIVER BACKING ANOTHER TOYOTA DRIVER”

While another commented, “Toyota love fest”

Another hater sarcastically typed, “I see you’ve finally taken a look in the mirror 👍”

The bashing spree continued as someone decided to drag Reddick’s boss Denny Hamlin into this and wrote, “Kinda like your car owner.”

One take at a time

It is the unpredictability of the sport that probably intrigues me the most. There was a time when I knew very little about NASCAR. But after I watched the 2011 Ford 400 where Tony Stewart defeated Carl Edwards in a tie-breaker, there has been no going back for me.
