Erik Jones and Chase Briscoe‘s rivalry sparked after their car-bumping incident in the most recent Phoenix race. This wild drama had to end quickly so it wouldn’t affect their next race in Bristol. The #43 driver was desperately trying to get both of them on the same line, but Briscoe just did not know what Jones was talking about. For a while, it seemed like they might not be able to solve their ongoing issue in time to board the Sunday race.

An open and sincere phone chat brings Chase Briscoe and Erik Jones together

Since last week, Erik Jones has been eager to resolve his ongoing odds with the SHR driver, expressing his frustration over what he perceived as unethical behavior from Briscoe every week. This feud in the racing community felt like a modern-day NASCAR clash, filled with so much tension and drama. However, it appears that they’ve chosen to end the drama in the old-fashioned way.

Erik finally managed to get Briscoe’s new phone number after some drama, as the SHR driver had changed it a few months ago. While exactly what ‘warm and cordial’ words Erik Jones and Chase Briscoe shared over the phone remain undisclosed, both of them posted good things about it on social media. Even Erik Jones expressed readiness to move forward without any more drama.

After their friendly conversation, the #43 driver tweeted, “We’ve talked, moving forward with no drama and trying to run up front tomorrow.” Quoting the tweet, Chase Briscoe wrote, “Had a good conversation once we got the right phone numbers. All good and looking ahead.” Now that things have calmed down, it looks like they will no longer be engaging in rivalry with each other.

Although both drivers have now declared that their dispute is over for good, Eric Jones was dealt a heavy blow in the standings after the wreck on Sunday. While Chase Briscoe ended up making a 9th-place finish, the wreck left Jones well and out of the top 10 despite being one of the fastest cars in the early stages of the race.

Jones drove his Legacy Motor Club Toyota like a pro and showed a great deal of speed during the race that took place in Phoenix the previous Sunday. Stage 1 saw his dominance in the first part of the race, as he kicked off fourth and finished in the same place. But everything changed with the restart that occurred with 92 laps remaining when Eric Jones took a bump and eventually hit the wall.

The unfortunate incident was caused by a poor pit stop and a hit from Bubba Wallace, but Jones’ LMC crew primarily blamed Chris Briscoe. Jones claimed that Briscoe’s driving impeded his progress and ultimately led to the wreck in which he was involved. Following the collision, Jones slammed the wall, ending his race from a promising P4 down to a dismal P31. In his frustration, Jones wasted no time getting his feelings out over Briscoe’s actions and his eagerness to discuss things as he said “I will call him”.
