Marissa took it especially hard, since she was extremely fond of children. Fortunately, the Darlington race got postponed, so Chase Briscoe promptly rushed back home to be with his wife.

He revealed, “When I got here, we just met met outside and just hugged. It was such an personal moment for the two of us, we didn’t say anything.”

After the couple plucked up the courage to share their loss on social media, they were overwhelmed by the response. One of the biggest shoulders to lean on, came from Kyle Busch’s wife, Samantha. As it turned out, she went through the same ordeal back in 2018, so they reached out to the grieving couple.

When the Darlington race got pushed to the following day, they chose to let Briscoe participate. With that, he declared that he was going to win the race for her and their child. Even the team knew how badly he wanted to win the race. Chase Briscoe confessed that once he took the lead, his emotions simply bubbled over.

Ironically, the final showdown was between Briscoe and Kyle Busch for the Darlington win. Somehow he managed to eke out the win, in spite of brushing the wall. Once he crossed the finish line and stopped the car eventually, all he could do was simply clamber out and cry.
