NASCAR Xfinity driver Chase Briscoe took his fifth win of the 2020 season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This win was particularly special because this was Briscoe’s home track and the first time he raced on the road course.

The 25-year old confessed to Fox NASCAR’s Jamie Little, that the race was quite exciting. He even praised the road course, calling it one of the best road courses he ever raced on.

The driver noted that there were several opportunities to pass other cars, practically at every corner. Briscoe said, “I thought it was awesome. Then during the middle of the race, there was a little bit of rain. I almost wanted it to downpour because I thought that it would be awesome to race in the rain.”

Chase Briscoe knows that racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is special. However, for someone growing up there, it is even more of a privilege. So, to actually win a race in front of his home fans is a surreal feeling.

Speaking to the media after the race, he said, “Still not as prestigious obviously as winning on the oval, but to be the first to do something and winning on the road course here in a stock car.

“It doesn’t matter what you race here. If you win at Indianapolis, it’s special, especially when you grow up literally an hour away from the place and came here as a kid.”

Indiana compatriot, Justin Haley and Noah Gragson completed the podium. Meanwhile, AJ Allmendinger and Austin Cindric rounded out the top 5.

Cindric even managed to win the first stage of the race, before a jump-start penalty did him in. The furious 21-year old insisted that a rival bumped his car during the restart, but the stewards clearly did not agree with him.
