With the playoffs beginning in two days, Elliott expressed his desire to make it to the championship race. “Its the goal, right? I mean you can’t win the championship without making that final four,” Elliott said in an interview before the playoffs. “That’s been that point of the playoffs that we haven’t been able to bust through yet,” he added.
Elliott, who drives the No. 9 car for Hendrick Motorsports, spoke about his team’s chances in this year’s playoffs to make that final race at Phoenix Raceway in November. “I feel like we’ve been really close (in past seasons) at times to doing it. I think we’re very capable of making the final four,” Elliott said.
“At the end of the day, if me being confident in knowing we can do it and my team knowing that is the case, and it is. Then I think that’s really all that matters to me. Its certainly the goal,” Elliott added further.
