Chase Elliott, Brad Keselowski, and Martin Truex Jr. to Run NASCAR Tire Test Ahead of COTA Debut

Reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott is one of three Cup champions who will feature in the first-ever multi-car appearance at one of NASCAR’s newest venues, the iconic Circuit of the Americas.

Elliott will be joined by Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr. this coming Tuesday at COTA. The three NASCAR champions will run a tire test for NASCAR’s tire manufacturer, Goodyear, ahead of the sport’s debut at the track in May.

All three NASCAR Series will race at COTA on the May 21-23 weekend, at the 3.41-mile track. The COTA race is one of seven road course races on the Cup Series 2021 schedule.

Tuesday’s test session will be the first occasion that multiple NASCAR Cup cars will run on the road course in Austin, Texas. Having three superstars in Elliott, Keselowski, and Truex Jr will give both Goodyear and NASCAR authorities a good review ahead of the races in May. The test session is not open to the public.

Sponsors for NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity races at COTA

Additionally, Speedway Motorsports, who are the promoters of the event, also announced the title sponsors for the Cup and Xfinity races at the track in Austin.

EchoPark Automotive, which is a vehicle dealership chain, will be the title sponsor for the Cup Series race on May 23. The Xfinity Series race runs on May 22 and landed Pit Boss Grills as the title sponsor.

The COTA race, being a road course race, will add a lot of intrigue. It is the second road course race on the schedule, after the recently concluded race at the Daytona Road Course.

Elliott will once again go in as the favorite, despite a 21st place finish at Daytona last weekend. The 2020 Cup champ came very close to his fifth straight NASCAR win on a road course before some issues in the final few laps ended his hopes of a win.

Tuesday’s tire test will give Elliott a good feel of the new track. However, the Cup drivers will not return there or race or another road course until May 23rd. Another road course specialist, Truex Jr, will also get a good experience on Tuesday.
