It is a well-known fact that F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo is a huge NASCAR fan. In fact, his racing number is a tribute to the late great Dale Earnhardt. So, given that F1 has visited the track, Ricciardo offered NASCAR drivers some advice ahead of NASCAR’s first-ever race at the Circuit of the Americas. He even delivered a special message to his good friend, reigning champion Chase Elliott.

Ricciardo said, “What’s going on Chase! It’s your buddy Daniel Ricciardo here. There’s going to be two things, tell you to enjoy the hell out of Austin. It’s such a cool city and I’ll have to give you some tips on where to go. Also the circuit, it’s amazing! Turn 1, just aim for the apex. You can definitely do some divebombs up there. Send it into 1 and you’ll be good.”

Needless to say, Elliott appreciated the advice and commented that Ricciardo is an ‘awesome guy.’ According to the defending Cup Series champion, the Australian driver is one of the greatest racing personalities.

How did Chase Elliott and Daniel Ricciardo meet?

Apparently, the two of them bumped into each other in Texas a few years ago. Since then, they became fast friends and kept in touch. Needless to say, Elliott appreciated the advice and also observed that Ricciardo sounded like an Austin native. Additionally, he also promised to reach out to the Australian for tips on the local hotspots in the city.

For now, Elliott and Ricciardo are just focusing on their respective races on opposite sides of the world. While Elliott is tackling the Circuit of the Americas, Ricciardo has a tougher challenge, namely the Monte Carlo circuit. While Ricciardo has won at Monaco before, but is not flattering himself into expecting a repeat.

Meanwhile, Chase Elliott and the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series paddock are eager to go racing at COTA. The track’s unique first turn, its corner sequences, and its long straight will definitely provide some great racing.
