Being a NASCAR Cup Series driver is no easy task. It takes a lot of practice, training, and hard work to get to the level that a Cup Series driver is at. Unfortunately, many drivers become a little too critical of themselves. And Chase Elliott is a perfect example of that.

In fact, Elliott is known for being pretty hard on himself. However, he doesn’t agree.

In a recent press conference, SiriusXM Reporter, David Siegel, asked Elliott, “Before your first win you were really hard on yourself. And, the last couple weeks, you’ve also been pretty hard on yourself. Obviously, you can’t win every single race you know that. Where does the mindset come from of holding yourself to such a high standard?”

To which he replied, “I’m not hard on myself. I’m just honest about the facts of the matter and what happened,” Elliott added, “There’s no one that knows what goes on in the event more than myself and my team. Not y’all, not anybody watching at home. So, I mean, I appreciate the kind words here and there. But the reality is what it was and I stated that, You know. I made too many mistakes.”
