Chase Elliott is currently hard at work preparing for the 2022 Cup season. Recently, he turned up at the Placerville Speedway for a USAC Midget race, along with Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson. All of this is in the buildup to the 2022 Chili Bowl Nationals dirt race.

Of course, Larson is the favorite, as he is well known for being a master of multiple dirt disciplines. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Elliott, as he finished 20th in the Hangtown 100 A-Main. Despite the hiccups, Elliott is still keen to learn from his mistakes and perform better.

Of course, Larson tried to be as helpful as possible during the debriefs. Speaking about his teammate, Larson said, “It’s really neat to see how and kind of get a glimpse of how his brain works and how he processes how to drive a race car. I’m not a good coach, so it’s been nice to have Brad Sweet here. He’s really been helping Chase a lot. I pitch in some advice when I can, but like I said, my only advice is I feel like to anybody when they ask me what to do is to say, ‘run it harder.’ Explaining how to run it harder, Brad’s really good at doing that and talking angles and explaining what to do with your hands and feet.”

Chase Elliott has a bigger target in mind after Hangtown

Speaking about the possibility of gunning for the Chili Bowl Nationals, Elliott joked about his poor dirt form. He said, “We’re working on it. If they don’t fire me, I’m supposed to do it. They’ve offered it up and I told them I would love to do it. So, we’ll see. If they don’t fire me by next Saturday, I’m planning on going.”

This will be the second time that he is attending the Chili Bowl Nationals. For the moment, Chase Elliott will simply be content with honing his skill. At the same time, he will be preparing for a fresh campaign in the NASCAR Cup Series.
