Chase Elliott finds himself under a lot of pressure with just three races left to the playoffs. The 2020 Cup Series champion is facing a situation that he has never faced before. Ever since his comeback from the injury early in the season, Elliott hasn’t looked in his best form. However, fans had expected him to get better as the season progressed. Nevertheless, the last two races have gone horribly for Elliott.

The sudden improvement in the performance of the Ford has dropped the former Cup Series champion into even more trouble. In the last two races, we have seen Chris Buescher rise from the ashes and dominate the third stage. Ford, which was looking in trouble throughout the season, has suddenly got its mojo back and is looking to add to the worries of the other two OEMs.

One of the people caught in this fight is Chase Elliott, who is still desperate to make his way into the playoffs. Just before the Cup race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Elliott received yet another blow from Ford.

“The Ford Nightmare” chases Elliott outside NASCAR

“The Ford Nightmare” followed Chase Elliott to a Super Late Model race on Wednesday at the Berlin Raceway. It was the king of super late models Bubba Pollard driving a Ford who took away the win and the $30,000 prize money. Elliott, who finished second in the Battle at Berlin 250 event, never looked to be a challenge to Pollard’s Ford in the lead.

Despite finishing second, Elliott was pleased with the result. This was his first drive in the Super Late Model series after it went through a complicated regulation change. However, Elliott ended up getting his personal best finish in the series. Elliott was not the only Cup driver to race in Berlin Raceway’s second crown jewel event of the year—the first being Money in the Bank 150, which was won by Eric Jones. William Byron and Josh Berry joined Elliott for a share of the $90,900 purse.

After the race, Elliott said, “It was a lot better than we’ve been, so that’s good, and Bubba just did a great job as always. Congratulations to him.”

Despite the loss, Elliott embraced the good side of things. He said that he was happy to share the podium alongside another Georgian [Bubba Pollard] and that he enjoyed racing against him.
