After several months of hard racing, it all comes down to this. Two Hendrick Motorsports cars will duel with each other, as well as two Joe Gibbs Racing cars. Ahead of this weekend’s season finale, NASCAR living legend, Jimmie Johnson spoke about the title race. Obviously, he was still loyal to his previous employers, Hendrick Motorsports. However, he did reveal who he believes will be the champion.

Johnson said, “In the back of our minds we think, who’s been the strongest current team all year long. Without a doubt, this year has been about Hendrick Motorsports. It’s certainly been about that #5 car of Kyle Larson. I’m very fond of that #5 car.

He added, “A lot of the team was the team that made up the #48 that I drove for many years. Cliff Daniels, a long-time friend and teammate. I mean we brought him up to be a crew chief for my final full-time season.”

Naturally, Jimmie Johnson is rooting for Hendrick Motorsports. However, as much praise he has for Larson, the ex-champion is also a Chase Elliott and Alan Gustafson fan. So, he is glad that there are at least two Hendrick cars in the season finale and hopes that one of them is the champion.

Admittedly, the Hendrick duo know that they cannot let their guard down around each other. In addition to that, they will also be wary of the Joe Gibbs pair of Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin. Furthermore, Elliott will be even more fired up, considering that he is the defending champion. Kyle Larson has been in excellent form and is regarded as a title favorite.

Truex Jr is pretty much a dark horse, while Hamlin will want to move on from the drama at Martinsville. One thing is for sure, the 2021 Cup Series finale will be very exciting and nail-biting.
