Chase Elliott went into Kansas with his fourth consecutive victory on a road course at Charlotte. He, however, found the going a little tough, landing outside the cutoff spot after a sixth-place finish.

Speaking on if he is trying to prepare differently now for the playoff races, he said, “Our approach has always been the same, as it has always been when we had a bunch of practice.

For us, I feel, we are just trying not to reinvent the wheel and just do our thing,” he further added.

Elliott also mentioned that he gets on calls with his team discussing ideas. If all works well, he generally goes about his usual preparation until the race day.

However, the 24-year-old denied putting a timeframe to his preparations. He added that it is something that his mind is always thinking about.

Chase Elliott and his win at Charlotte

Chase Elliott battled wet conditions while trying to win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was his fourth straight road-course win from last season.

Thanks to the win, the #9 Chevrolet Camaro driver found himself in the Round of 8. While he has made the Round of 8 for the fourth consecutive year, he is still looking for his first-ever entry into the Championship 4 race.

The win at Charlotte was Elliott’s second at the venue. He last won there in May, after the resumption of NASCAR races after the COVID-19 break.

Safe to say that Chase Elliott has had a decent 2020 season so far. He will however have to put his sixth-place finish at Kansas behind him and look at Texas with a positive outlook. With Joey Logano already in the championship 4, three spots remain with races at Texas and Martinsville to go.
