Elliott seemed to be concerned about the new Next Gen cars and the current hype behind them. He would like to see the designers willing to change, adapt and improve racing with the specs, in accordance with the different types of tracks they drive on.
“Because this is a learning process, and I think you have to be willing to change this thing a little bit as time goes on, to put on the best racing product we can.” During his interview, Chase also mentioned, “This is the way we designed it, we’re gonna make this work. And we’re going to end up swallowing our pride because we want to push this thing really, really hard and not be willing to adapt and make changes to put on a really good race at each track we go to.”
With the 2022 season, we’ve seen some races that have been excellent from a fan’s point of view. But then again some races were utterly horrific ones. Mostly, with the way these new cars are panning out, only a handful of cars get it right at certain tracks, while others are left to bite the dust at the end of the field.

He has had a wonderful relationship and understanding with his crew chief Alan Gustafson, which has really given him the edge, especially in races like Nashville. If he continues with his current mentality, strategy, and race pace during the Playoffs, we can expect maybe yet another title for Elliott.
