NASCAR’s most popular driver Chase Elliott recently gave out a very useful piece of information for anyone who wants to be a racecar driver. He even called it the most important piece of the puzzle.
In a Shorts video posted on the YouTube channel Deadspin, Chase revealed the hardest part of the job. According to him, apart from being a skilled driver, it is also important to acclimatize oneself to the environment one has to be in during the race.

One needs to be cautious and well prepared to be in situations where it is too hot or there isn’t much fresh air to breathe. Keeping the body hydrated is the best solution to it. The Hendrick Motorsports star said, “I don’t necessarily think you have to be a super athlete to be a NASCAR driver or to be a racer driver in general. But to me, the biggest piece of the puzzle is just the environment that you are working in.”

“It’s an extremely hot environment. You are not getting a lot of fresh air with an elevated heart rate and not a lot of physical movement. I have found over the years from an endurance standpoint, just making sure you are on top of the hydration game and racing as much as you can.”

Given his age, Chase has a very successful career in NASCAR. With his experience of his share of wins and fails, he sure has wisdom beyond his age. So far, he has eighteen wins in the Cup Series, five Xfinity Series wins, and three wins in the Truck Series. In an interview, he shed some light on what mindset a race driver should carry and gave a recipe for success. He said that the key to success is staying competitive in the sport. It is not every year that a person can win a championship. But the process of putting oneself out on the tracks and going through all the fights in the competition is more fun. And just by showing up and enjoying it all, the right opportunities may show up.
