How did Chase Elliott grab victory?

Rounding out the top 5 were, championship leader Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, and Denny Hamlin. Meanwhile, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, Aric Almirola, and Martin Truex Jr. completed the top 10 respectively.

As it turns out, the handful of fans that were allowed to attend the race were absolutely delighted with Elliott‘s win. To further add to the spectacle, NASCAR experimented with some innovations for the non-points race.

This included fitting the cars with lights for an underglow while they raced. and a new restart format, allowing drivers to pick their lane of preference.

Gimmicks aside, everything boiled down to good old-fashioned racing among the 20 drivers. It is also worth noting that Aric Almirola managed to qualify for the All-Star Race, along with Matt DiBenedetto and William Byron.

To achieve this, DiBenedetto won the race while Byron and Almirola won the first two stages. Taking the final qualifying spot was Clint Bowyer thanks to the Fan Vote.

Coming back to Chase Elliott, he led around 60 laps before finally taking the chequered flag. Speaking to NASCAR after the race, he said, “There’s nothing like Bristol. There’s nothing like the lights here. There’s nothing like racing here.

“I’ve never won here — what a race to do it. Just really proud of our team tonight and rebounding. … All those No. 9 hats and T-shirts up in the stands — love to see it.”
