Chase Elliott enters a race track this Sunday, which is not usually good for him, in a crucial race. While he aims to secure a maiden appearance in the NASCAR Cup Series championship race, Elliott has a tough task ahead, as he sits just outside the cutoff spot. However, Elliott enters this race with a quintessential change in his mindset.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver said that said he is not quite worried about the points situation at this stage of the season.

I feel like I’ve really worried about the points situation less this year than I ever have before,” Elliott said in a recent interview.

He does not deny its importance; however, the 26-year-old star has accepted that eventually, it is all about winning. He feels that he needs to focus more on winning than just earning playoff points.

What Chase Elliott feels matters most in the playoffs

It matters, don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I don’t care. It does matter, but I just think the more that you understand that winning is paramount and that’s the only guarantee that moves you on,” Eliott said further.

A big reason for that belief stems from the fact that the championship race is all about winning. “Also, realizing that if you make the final four, you’re going to have to go win that last race,” Elliott said about the same.

Elliott enters the final 2 races of the round with the same approach he adopted throughout the Playoffs. And he feels if he is not winning races, he does not stand a chance at the Phoenix Raceway on November 8th.

“So, I’m just really a big believer in feeling comfortable in that moment and just trying to thrive in the situation of having to win. And I think that’s how we need to treat these last two races in this round,” Elliott expressed.
