Christopher Bell enters Homestead on 8th place in the Playoff standings. It will definitely be a hard-fought battle for him if he plans to get ahead of the pack. However, on a lighter note, Bell was recently asked if with all the attention he gets in NASCAR world, whether anyone ever recognized the JGR driver at the grocery store.

Bell said, “Never. I don’t think I’ve ever been recognized at the grocery store.”

Even with all the spotlight, it seems that Bell remains fairly obscure outside of the limelight. Gone are the days, when NASCAR drivers were like celebrities. Ever since the drastic fall in popularity of the sport, fairly well-known drivers are becoming barely known once outside of racing.

But perhaps for Bell, it may be a good thing, took walk away from it all and take a much-needed break after all the bad luck he has faced this season.

Halfway into the season, Bell’s pit crew saw a massive change after half of them were swapped with Bubba Wallace’s crew. While it surely brought major improvements to Wallace, things were not as great on Bell’s side.

Aside from the pit crew swap, things also got better, when his playoff contention came into question thanks to Bubba Wallace hooking Kyle Larson into him at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He had just won a race at Charlotte Roval prior to that incident but now he sits at the final spot in the best of 8.

With his playoff hopes in question, Bell would surely be upset with Wallace’s short fuse and the decisions taken early in the season. We hope that he has a fairly decent outing this Sunday at the iconic Homestead-Miami race.
