The NASCAR Playoffs will finally kick off this weekend, but there are a few eyes peering at 2021. However, Clint Bowyer is not one of them, choosing to focus on the task at hand, the playoffs.

However, can he really afford to hold off on negotiations with his current contract expiring at the end of the current season? To further complicate matters, the other Stewart Haas Racing drivers have already penned new contracts.

Speaking to FOX Sports, Clint Bowyer simply said, “They’re working on that. You know the future and what that looks like, if it’s a part of this sport in any way, shape or form, I’m excited about it.”

However, Bowyer is glad that a sense of normalcy is slowly resuming. He noted the presence of fans at Daytona and insisted that it was a breath of fresh air.

Bowyer continued, “I’m excited about it and I’m excited about these first three races within the playoff. We ran well  there, in Darlington too, won a couple of stages. We ran well, doing the things we needed to do. We pit, caution comes out, you’re a lap down.

“Next thing you know, you’re trying to dig yourself a hole. Put it in a hole it shouldn’t have been in, hit the wall and the rest is history!”

Amid all this playoffs talk, Clint Bowyer cannot afford to ignore the fact that 2020 is ending very, very soon. Sooner or later, he will have to sit down and discuss the terms and conditions of his contract.
