It is safe to say that Corey LaJoie is not a big fan of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. This weekend, the Cup Series paddock heads there, as the Playoff fight heats up. As things stand, there are just two spots remaining with five races to go in the regular season.

However, it seems that LaJoie misses the oval layout of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. To the point that he reacted fairly positively to the prospect of the oval layout returning next season.

He said in his podcast, “This might be an ice cold take. I’ve heard that this is the last year that we’re going on the road course, and I hope so. There’s nothing that gets me excited to go to the road course at Indy.”

“We’re gonna dig into my launching a 3700-pound vehicle about six feet in the air today. It’s not a crown jewel race, no it ain’t. It ain’t the Brickyard if you’re going the opposite way over it.”

What to expect from Corey LaJoie at Indianapolis?

Considering his lack of fondness for the road course, we shouldn’t expect any miraculous results. However, it does not mean that the Spire Motorsports driver won’t try and secure a good result. In fact, LaJoie will try his hardest to try and repeat his Atlanta heroics, hopefully without wrecking.

However, the task at hand will not be easy, and a lot of it depends on where he qualifies. If he is somewhere in the middle of the pack, then his job just got a lot easier.

On the other hand, anything can happen during the race, and everything depends on whether his weekend goes smoothly.

Of course, the regular front-runners will try and make sure that he does not sneak into the Playoffs with a victory. Otherwise, it spells doom for some yet-to-qualify drivers, like Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr and Kevin Harvick.
