Recently, SS Green Light Racing announced that they will switch from Chevrolet to Ford. Additionally, they also struck an alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing. So SHR’s end of the bargain is to provide cars and tech support. As for driver line-ups, Joe Graf Jr returns on a full-time basis in the #07 car. Meanwhile, Cole Custer and Chase Briscoe are sharing a second car. This leaves one spot open alongside the two Cup drivers for the remaining races. Will this open a door for Hailie Deegan?

Considering that she is a Ford performance driver, the move may make a lot of sense. At the moment, she is racing for David Gilliland Racing in the Truck Series and impressed in her first season. While she may want to focus on cementing her status in the Truck arena, Deegan probably wouldn’t be opposed to a role in the Xfinity Series.

Speaking about her future, she said, “My hope is to race full-time trucks and that’s kind of the plan right now. Whether we’re fully funded or not, that’s my goal. The hope, or the dream would be to race a few Xfinity races by the end of the year and get our feet wet because that’s obviously where I want to go in the future. That’s kind of the dream goal, dream scenario. We’re still open for more sponsors and always open to new relationships.”

Sometime last year, Hailie Deegan announced that she hoped to enter the Xfinity Series in 2022. So the big question is, is the SS Green Light Racing team her ticket to the series? Of course, Deegan will not be the only driver sniffing out a potential Xfinity seat. Other options include Ryan Preece, who recently signed with Stewart-Haas Racing as a reserve driver.
