It’s hard to compare eras. This is a loaded question designed to get a reaction on social media. However when you compare eras and the amount of racing the early drivers did. I would say Petty, and Earnhardt Sr were by far the best of their eras.

There were some other picks, too, though.

My favorite is Jeff Gordon. The best was David Pearson. If he ran all the races petty ran he would’ve been the winning leader

Alan Kulwicki, if he lived longer would have been in this conversation. He didn’t have those big corporate sponsors and could run with the best of them.

Of course, there is no one driver better than everyone else, but some drivers found more success than others in their era. So who was the most successful of them all?

Well, the answer to that isn’t much of a surprise, but it’s Richard Petty with 200 race wins. But the interesting part is Petty is so far ahead of everyone else that the 2nd most successful driver is David Pearson with 105 wins. Closely followed by Jeff Gordon with 93 wins.
