Ironhead. The Intimidator. The Man in Black. Dale Earnhardt Sr. wasn’t just a driver – he was the heart of NASCAR. And when he passed, the sport knew it lost a true icon. But for Junior, it was much more personal. That’s why when he returned to Daytona six months later, he knew he was part of something big.

I thought about all the people that this was going to help. I can’t say that it gave everyone closure, but I can say that that moment made them happy. We could all smile and laugh and enjoy something good,” he said at the time. The impact of the Earnhardt legacy was clear.

Decades later, the Earnhardt legacy still roars on, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. carrying the torch and proving that greatness still runs in the bloodline. Competitiveness also runs deep in the bloodline – even at the school. One very surprising win still reminds fans that the spirit of the Intimidator lives on. We’re not talking about Dale Jr. This time, it’s his daughter!

Dale Jr. explained in a recent episode with his wife Amy the racing antics of their daughters. “We have a big announcement. Everybody buckle up. I get asked all the time. Are your girls going to race? Well, we have a racer and a winner. Nicole had a race at school. It was a foot race but it was around an oval. They wore these race car bodies.

Now, races in school happen all the time, right? Why was it special for the Earnhardt family? Amy explained, “It was NASCAR day at school. So I put her in a vintage Dale Sr. T-shirt so she’s like I got the whole vibe going.

In a recent Instagram reel for DirtyMo, Amy Earhardt very proudly talked about her daughter. “She killed it. Her teacher sent me the video and she’s racing her a– looking backwards, where it’s like, nobody’s gonna catch me.”  The couple’s daughter, Nicole, proves to be a true Earnhardt at heart. And with great certainty, it can be said that she did not let anyone overtake her to win the race, proving to be the Intimidator to her classmates.

Amy also revealed a conversation she had with her daughter, where her daughter very sternly remarked, “She told me yesterday, she‘s like, I’m only going back to school so we get to do the race again.  While the couple shared a laugh about this, we’re sure the seven-time Winston Cup series champion would be smiling down at his granddaughter with pride. It has not been easy for the current Earnhardt family to live on without Dale Earnhardt, but his legacy pretty surely confirms his presence.

Does Nicole Earnhardt's school race win prove the Intimidator's spirit is alive and kicking?

But the story didn’t stop there. Junior narrated the action, and his daughter went at it like a true racer. “Nicole can absolutely tell that this is a competition. And you can tell from the moment it starts, she’s like I’m out to win. The other kids are like, ‘Oh, we’re just playing. Hey, I’m having fun. ‘I’m running. I got my little car.’ But Nicole was like, this is a race, I’m out to win it. So she takes off running,g and they had a little caution so they slow down and they walk, and the green flag comes out, and she runs again. She got a little wide around the track. This girl in second just closed the gap and passed her, and it was like—woke her up. She was like, ‘Oh man, I have been passed,’ and then she fired off. And then went back to the inside and got underneath the leader and past her and wins the race.”

It didn’t go too well for Nicole’s sibling, as Dale revealed.“(Isla) was sad that we didn’t win the race, I understood what she was going through.” It’s no surprise that both daughters are deeply invested in racing. Back in 2023, when they were watching Dale at the Xfinity race in Tennessee, a fire broke out inside his car due to electrical issues, meaning he would get a DNF result. The real kicker? His daughter’s reaction. “Isla was sad that we didn’t win the race. I understood what she was going through. For the first few years we were taking her to the race track and her seeing and watching this one event she’s like: ‘OK, I saw him get in the car’ but she couldn’t connect it — me being out on the race track and competing. She didn’t really know what all that meant, but now she gets it.” he later revealed.

And that’s what the Earnhardt family has seen throughout the years. When Junior saw his dad lose, he wasn’t happy. “As a little boy, I cried a few times when Dad had some bad runs,” he once admitted

Regardless, their daughters made the Earnhardt parents proud in not just one, but two moments!

Amy proudly shares her daughter’s act of kindness

When Amy and Dale Jr. got married, they always knew they wanted kids. “I think we will go off on instinct. We will make mistakes. But hopefully we raise a great kid. I’m certain Amy will have a lot to do with her being amazing and I’ll try not to be too bad of an influence,” Dale said. On the other hand, Amy had a simple verdict. “We aren’t spring chickens.”

As their kids grow older, the couple has come to realise there are certain moments in this journey that make you beam with joy. That’s what happened when a mother from their daughters’ school reached out. “I was out walking the dogs, so I actually did cry. I need to tell you how sweet your girl was yesterday. My daughter was at a table with two girls at lunch. Mind you, there were six or seven. And when she got to throw trash away, the two girls moved. And they were still eating. They moved tables. Katie was at the table alone, and Isla noticed and grabbed her lunch and moved to Katie’s table and said, we don’t let our friends sit alone.”

That magical moment had the two gushing on their show. Amy added, “Isn’t that so sweet? I know when she leaves the house now, like, I don’t have to worry. Her little sweetheart that I see at home really is how she behaves. And that made me feel so good. Because if she, if I ever caught her doing some mean girl stuff, like, I would tan her hide.”
