Wyatt Miller reveals shocking racing idols
Wyatt Miller, the son of LW and Kelley Earnhardt Miller grew up surrounded by racing. His family’s deep ties to motorsports made it inevitable for Wyatt to try his hand at the sport. After successful initial years, Miller currently participates in different restricted and junior racing tournaments. He is currently fighting for the prestigious Golden Driller Trophy at Tulsa Shootout.
During the event, when asked about his racing inspiration, Wyatt Miller snubbed his uncle Dale Jr. “Kyle Larson and Daison Pursley,” the 12-year-old racer remarked. Notably, Kyle Larson is one of the most popular NASCAR drivers of this generation. He won the 2021 Cup Series Championship and has been an inspiration for many.
Apart from stock car racing, Larson also participates in other forms of racing like sprint and dirt races. He recently visited Australia for his High Limit Racing sprint car series. Driving at Perth Motorplex, Larson won the biggest prize money for sprint racing in Australian history, AUD 100,000. Notably, he is also participating in the Tulsa Shootout 2025 and aiming at the prestigious Golden Driller Trophy.

Meanwhile, another inspiration for Wyatt is Daison Pursley. The 19-year-old young racing sensation has been phenomenal in the sprint car racing world. His journey from micro sprints in Oklahoma to national recognition is remarkable, especially given the life-threatening injury that damaged the C4-C5 vertebrae of his spine he suffered in 2021. Despite the setback, Pursley has bounced back stronger, winning races across various USAC divisions. His success in winged racing further underscores his versatility and potential as a driver.

Wyatt Miller snubs Dale Jr.—Is this a bold move or a disrespect to family legacy?
Have an interesting take?
Despite these rising stars one name missing from Miller’s answer was his uncle Dale Earnhardt Jr. While this raised some eyebrows the reason behind this might be the different racing styles of Wyatt and Dale Jr. Kelley Miller, Wyatt’s mother, and Dale Jr.’s sister, once remarked on her son’s unique racing style. She described Wyatt as a blend of aggression and conservatism, a stark contrast to Dale Jr.’s reserved approach.
Kelley had explained, “My dad was hardcore aggressive in and out of the race car. Dale, is very reserved, very conservative. Wyatt is conservative but then aggressive inside the race car. He’s like this mix that when you just see him out here, and you’re like, ‘Oh, okay, that kid races. Oh, okay,’ and then he gets behind there, and he just does things that you’re like, ‘Wow!’”
This contrast in racing philosophies might explain Wyatt’s divergence from his uncle’s path. Wyatt’s racing idols, Larson and Pursley, align more with his dynamic and aggressive approach. This may resonate with his aspirations better than Dale Jr.’s more calculated style. Notably, Miller aims to make big strides in upcoming years and this clarity might help him.
