Following Darlington, yet another fascinating Dale Jr Download podcast has dropped in. Owing to the massive success of his post-retirement venture, NASCAR veteran, Dale Earnhardt Jr has been dropping in with these fan-favorite conversations and they’ve been a massive hit in the community.

Recently, after the Goodyear 400, Dale Jr revealed how he met former NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards at the event alongside Matt Kenseth and other prominent Cup Series personalities.

Even as he shares Edward’s “eloquent” way of responding to questions, Dale Jr also hints at the sad part that drowned Carl Edwards fans.

Dale Earnhardt Jr reveals the disheartening part of the conversation he had with Edwards

As Dale Jr returned to the studio floor after the intense Goodyear 400 at Darlington, the veteran also had some interesting yet disappointing news for fans. Being one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, Dale Jr also joined the event among other greats of the sport including Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth.

While his manager and co-host, Mike Davis repeatedly poked the 48-year-old for any exclusive updates on Edwards returning to the tracks. Dale Jr had to break the news to his friend. Despite having a loyal fanbase, Edwards chose to retire in early 2017 after quenching his thirst for success.

Seeing the overwhelming response of the fans, Dale Jr recalls a skeptical Edwards. Despite Dale Jr almost getting a feel for the driver’s itch for racing, the JR Motorsports owner quickly revealed the disheartening news about the driver’s plans. While he still visits race shops and visited the recent event, Dale Jr recalls the conversation they had where the retired driver revealed his plans with his family, to travel.

Furthermore, Dale saw the look in his eyes. He said, “It pains him a little bit to have to you know be quite honest about it, right, he’s thought about it but hey he’s having a great time, he’s traveling the world, he’s seeing so much with his family, he’s got other plans that he told me about that are gonna be time-consuming,”

Even as he hints at Edwards’ busy future plans off the tracks with his family, Dale Jr felt the “itch” of the driver.

As he senses Edwards’ persistent itch to be back on track, he said, “I think he definitely has the itch, we had him on the pre-race on a pit box some years ago,” when asked about his return, “Junior” recalled the not-so-sure responses the driver gave at that time. 

Even as he spent time with the driver, the 2-time Daytona winner also swears to have no extra information on the driver’s plans. Despite his early retirement in 2017 after his glorious run in Cup Series and his infamous run-in with his then-teammate Kyle Busch back in 2016 while racking up wins for Joe Gibbs Racing. Both Mike Davis and Dale Jr are pretty much impressed by Edwards’ current condition and Dale believes that “he’s got 10 solid winning years left in the tank.”

Dale Jr certainly knows his fans as the driver consistently dishes out these fascinating stories of popular drivers. With more news coming from NASCAR nation, let us hope to see the 2003 Cup Series champ return to track.
