Although he is not racing in the NASCAR Cup Series any more, Dale Earnhardt Jr is still keeping himself active. Aside from one-off Xfinity Series appearances, he has been racing around short tracks in Late-Model cars. Most recently, the former Hendrick Motorsports driver was at the Florence Motor Speedway in South Carolina. Unfortunately, it was not exactly the best day in the office for the former Daytona 500 winner.

He said on his Instagram, “I’m heading on out of Florence Motor Speedway. We did get the icebreaker in today. So the weather, it turned out, did work out for us. What didn’t work out for us, was how the race car drove. I didn’t do a good job, ended up 17th or something like that. Just burned the rear tyres off it. Thought I was saving for when I needed, but when the  time came to go at the end, we didn’t have anything left. Anyways, not a good finish. You’re going to show up and get your butt kicked some days, and be humbled and this is one of those days.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr is confident that he will overcome this setback

Of course, the driver was hardly going to throw in the towel after one bad race. Instead, he was going to regroup and try again at the next race. He continued, “We’ll try to get it going, and next time we get behind the wheel, do a better job. Just appreciate it by the follows along, I thank everybody who came out to the race track in Florence today. All the competitors, lot of fun, good racing out there. So I think the next one for me is North Wilkesboro, that’s a lot time from now, hopefully we got a better result in that event, but we’ll see. Just a lot of fun, going to keep doing it and we’ll see you guys at the race track.”
