In NASCAR, from the choice of tires to the crucial moment of picking a lane on a restart, every decision counts. Recently, the Lone Star State witnessed a high-speed showdown between Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace. However, it wasn’t just the final moments of the race that saw jaws drop; it was the controversial “Idiot of the Week” claims made by Dale Earnhardt Jr’s former spotter that took center stage.

Later, in a candid dialogue, Dale Earnhardt Jr openly contested the infamous title, attributed to him by his former spotter, TJ Majors. It paints a backdrop for playful banter and taut rivalry, leaving listeners hanging onto every word, wondering who the real “idiot” is in this saga. Who knew a title could stoke such fiery banter?

During his podcast “The Dale Jr. Download,” Junior doesn’t hold back, questioning TJ’s credibility by pointing out his choice for “Idiot of the Week” during the recent incident involving Landon Huffman at the ValleyStar 300 Late Model race in Martinsville. Huffman, who drove remarkably well and secured a commendable second position, didn’t escape TJ’s critical eye.

During the podcast, the JR Motorsports owner stated, “This week, his ‘Idiot of the Week’ is Landon Huffman, who ran 2nd in [the ValleyStar 300] race in Martinsville. Massive finish! Awesome! Great, exciting run! Incredible … like a milestone for the guy that wins, and Landon they beat, but nobody took anybody out and drove stupid, and that was again his ‘Idiot of the Week.’”

Dale Jr implied that based on his ‘Idiot of the Week’ selections, he would not rely on TJ’s sense. On this, Davis prodded him, asking, “So are you saying that you disagree with TJ on Bubba’s wall strategy? Based off of that?”

“Well, I can’t trust his judgment Junior put his foot down.

The hosts speculated about how long TJ would remain in the “hot take dog house” and when they could trust his judgment again. Dale Jr suggested that TJ would need to make a remarkably correct point that everyone could rally behind to regain their trust, a prospect that seems uncertain. But things might not take a turn for the better any time soon.

Dale Earnhardt Jr required someone to run a belt up to the booth, an incident which subsequently ended up with Junior being labeled as “Idiot of the Week.” To this, Dale Jr replied with his signature mix of light-hearted sarcasm.

“I don’t agree with TJ on this one. Okay, TJ made me his idiot […] because I needed somebody to run a belt up to the booth before the Kansas race. He did that a few weeks ago. Which is like… Okay, that’s the biggest idiot! right? Of all the idiot things out there, of all the idiots, you’re gonna make that an idiot. Yeah, okay.”
