Dale Earnhardt, his son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jeff Gordon are some of the few names that pop into the fans’ heads when they think about iconic NASCAR drivers. And for a very good reason. Besides just being exceptional drivers on track, these people carried a big personality with them too. In fact, all of them held the place at the most popular driver for some point in their career.

But there is one thing that separates Dale Jr. from the others.

Corey Lajoie has been the face of one of the most popular NASCAR shows on YouTube lately. Of course, we’re talking about Stacking Pennies. This time around, the Spire Motorsports driver sat with the former NASCAR Boss, Mike Helton, who revealed some things about Dale Sr. and Jeff Gordon.

Helton revealed, “The big voices was Dale Sr., then there was a void, then it became Jeff Gordon.” Well, that’s not very surprising, considering their legacy in the sport. But Dale Sr.’s son was different from him.

The former NASCAR boss surprised everyone as he said, “A lot of people thought that Dale Jr.[would be a big voice too]. But Dale Jr. really didn’t come to the hauler a lot about issues. He’d just say ‘tell me what I gotta do and I’ll go race’.”

It’s a little surprising that someone as vocal as Junior was not one of the “big voices” of NASCAR. Maybe, he became more vocal after his career in the sport ended. Because he recently exposed the dark side of NASCAR as he admits having taken a step back from entering the Cup Series.

It’s been well-known that Junior has been trying to enter the NASCAR Cup Series with his Xfinity Series team, JR Motorsports. In fact, he has been in the market to buy a charter. But after the RTA meeting, he admits to having taken a backseat in the charter hunt.

In a recent episode of Dale Jr, download, he revealed, “Now, I’m a potential owner in the Cup Series. JR Motorsports could be a future owner in the series and we are actively out here like many new owners talking to these teams about what these charters are worth? Who’s willing to sell one? How do we become an owner?”

So, what changed his mind? Well, he reveals, “RTA is basically telling me this charter that I wanna buy is a losing proposition or not a money maker. I don’t wanna buy this charter now because it’s not a successful money-making business. That’s kinda what I took away from this.”
