Dale Earnhardt Jr is officially a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame now. Although he has not been very successful in the Cup Series, he has still managed to make a name for himself. Before Chase Elliott, he was the original ‘People’s Champion’ and has contributed a lot to the NASCAR community and the fans.

Recently, the former driver reflected on his racing career in the NASCAR arena. At the same time, he looked ahead to his roles in the sport and how his influence has changed many things. Suffice to say, it did not bother him that his legacy was built away from the track instead of on it.

Dale Jr said, “It is OK. It is totally fine with me that someone may remember me for other things aside from my accolades on the racetrack or what I did behind the wheel of a race car.”

It is worth mentioning that nowadays, people view Dale Jr as more of a team owner than a driver. A fair number of drivers can attest to that, as several of them have raced for his JR Motorsports team. For a driver like new JR Motorsports recruit, Sam Mayer, he views Earnhardt Jr as a driver, owner and a media personality.

Statistically, he was miles behind his own father. However, that does not take away anything from his own skills behind the wheel. In fact, he does boast of two Xfinity Series titles and Daytona 500 wins. Interestingly, Dale Earnhardt Jr was a bit introverted and shy. However, he was soon able to work past all that and is now embracing social media.

After his racing days, he soon realized that he did not want to say goodbye to the NASCAR world. So, he turned to podcasts as a way to remain involved in the sport. Through this, he was also able to connect with other drivers, and in the case of Kevin Harvick, tie up loose ends.
