Is NASCAR learning some tricks from the NFL? Over the past few weeks, the NFL has seen a spike in popularity. Insiders consider it to be the influence of the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce romance saga. Swift’s appearances in Travis’s football games have sparked the interest of non-NFL fans as well. According to some voices within the NASCAR paddock, the stock car racing promotion could use some of the same.

Replying to a related query, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr shared his ever-so-fresh perspective recently. Having been asked to choose a driver from the grid to replicate the kind of buzz that Swift and Kelce have created, he didn’t hesitate. Who would he choose?

Curious to know if a driver from NASCAR could have the same potential, it was a fan who asked Junior (as quoted on The Dale Jr. Download podcast), “Who would the NASCAR equivalent to be… like Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce? Would it be Ryan Blaney? Denny Hamlin?” Junior answered the question but left Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney out of the picture as he was aware that the 29-year-old was already in a relationship. Choosing NASCAR’s Golden Boy, the charming Chase Elliott, Junior used an example from the past to back his choice.

Talking about the time when Elliott had made NASCAR bring famed gymnast Olivia Dunne to a race, he said, “Yes. I believe that Chase went to NASCAR and said, ‘I think she’s cool. I’d love to meet [Olivia Dunne] and I think it would be great for NASCAR if you invited her to come to the track. It would show… maybe some of her fans might be curious as to why she was there and they may then in turn experience NASCAR for the first time.’”

Mentioning how Elliott had used NASCAR’s want for economics to his advantage, Junior was quite impressed with the youngster. He continued, “So I believe Chase sort of leveraged that actually happening, which is really cool on Chase’s part. If it’s anybody, it’s gonna have to be Chase Elliott. If anybody can create that type of buzz in the sport, it would be him.“

The fan’s interesting question was based on the fact that Sunday was the fourth time that Taylor Swift attended a football game that featured Kelce. Igniting in July, rumors of the couple being in a relationship have circulated in the media for a long time now. Regardless of their relationship status, the attention that the entire deal has generated is massive for American football.

It was the 2023 Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway that ignited rumors of Dunne and Elliott dating. After Chase Elliott posted pictures of the two having a chat in the paddock, fans and media began wondering if the two were in a relationship. But within a few hours, the tweet was removed from Elliott’s ‘X’ handle, giving the story a whole new spin.

Initially, fans assumed Elliott’s current unknown partner may have wanted the post to be taken down. But as per the latest information surrounding Olivia Dunne, she could be in a relationship with MLB prospect Paul Skenes. Chase Elliott himself has been rumored to be engaged to Ashley Anderson, but no party has confirmed this. Talking to former racer Kenny Wallace last month, the driver had expressed he is in ‘no rush’ to get married.

So, for now, we will have to wait to see if Dale Jr’s pick ends up recreating something along the lines of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
