Dale Earnhardt Jr Recalled His Conversation With Denny Hamlin Minutes Before His “Smart” and Controversial Tweet

Dale Jr dished out yet another fascinating episode of the popular Dale Jr Download podcast shortly after the action-packed Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As Ryan Blaney ended his 59-race winless drought, the race also witnessed a bloody battle between Hamlin and Chase Elliott ending in a vicious crash as Elliott hooked the #11 in the rear, sending Hamlin head-first into the wall.

While Denny Hamlin initially ignited the tussle as he came wide into the turn, pushing the #9 into the wall, the community criticized Elliott for his unjustified action. As the live commentary booth resonated with former driver Clint Bowyer exclaiming the wreck was intentional, Dale Jr disclosed how he perfectly predicted Hamlin’s post-race activity.

Dale Jr recalls the situation when he was explaining the incident to his wife, Amy Earnhardt. He said, I think if I know Denny, he has got a screenshot of it and then posts it on Twitter.” And that’s exactly what he did, Davis reminded Dale Jr.

Further, Dale revealed the interaction with Hamlin shortly after the race. “I text Denny, I said hey man you looking at that SMT? it’s like 30 mins, an hour after the race it’s within an hour and he goes, ‘it’s loading right now’.”

The JR Motorsports co-owner added, I knew that as soon as he could, get somewhere to look at it he would, and um sure enough man he posts it on Twitter which I you know, and turn the comment off which probably is smart in that scenario,”

While Chase Elliott ruined the race for him, Denny Hamlin’s timely response hit the spot. The driver came up with solid analytics that indicated Elliott’s intentional wreck. As the #11 driver took to his official Twitter handle to expose Elliott publically, he called his on-track shenanigans a “bullsh*t move.”

However, Dale Jr differed with Hamlin on his post-race act. As he understands the driver’s obvious frustration and resentment, Dale Jr on the podcast revealed a different approach he would’ve adopted if he was caught up in Hamlin’s place.

He said, “I don’t think I would have posted it, I would have put that in my pocket and I would’ve you know I would’ve sent that to Steve O’Donnell [Chief Operating Officer of NASCAR]”

Hamlin, however, exposed the golden boy of NASCAR, as he doubled down on the driver’s bad intentions. With Elliott suspended from Gateway Motor Park, NASCAR’s stiff and indiscriminate action is well-praised by fans.
