It seems that NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr has it all! May it be a successful driving career or a $300 million business empire, Earnhardt Jr surely knows his way around being the best at everything. However, how many would have guessed that his former boss Rick Hendrick had something to do with it?

Currently, Dale Earnhardt Jr owns multiple business ventures. He has his own NASCAR team JR Motorsports, as well as a multimedia content network named Dirty Mo Media. Apart from that, he also owns a chain of nightclubs and bars called Whisky River. Moreover, he is also planning to launch a contest for small business owners, offering an opportunity to win $100,000 for their ventures.
According to Earnhardt, his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr started his own racing team at a young age. And inspired by that, he too wanted to build his own brand. However, not many would have thought that Earnhardt didn’t receive the greatest piece of business advice from his father.
Interestingly, Dale revealed that the best business advice he ever received was from his former boss and Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick. During his conversation with the Entrepreneur, he revealed that it was Hendrick who taught him that a business is all about people.
He said, “Rick Hendrick, my former boss at Hendrick Motorsports, told me it’s all about the people. He would say the business works and succeeds because of the people that worked there, from the top to the bottom.”
Furthermore, he explained how according to Hendrick, people at all levels of an organization contribute to the success of an organization. He said, “Without the people and their talents, it wouldn’t be successful. Make sure that every person feels important and that their contribution is helping the business succeed – from the top of the house to the person sweeping the floors.”

He said, “As a driver, I had to have patience and be strategic. Those same skills I learned on the track are applicable in business and personal life as well.”

Further, he said that working with a team in a way that makes the team members happy is quite important. He said, “You also have to work with the team in a way that makes them want to work with you. If you don’t treat them right, they won’t want to go to bat for you.”
