Big changes are coming to NASCAR’s broadcasting team next season! In addition to NBC and Fox, two new players are joining the mix: Amazon Prime and TNT Sports. These streaming giants will each cover five races in the heart of the season. Meanwhile, Fox will kick off the first 14 races, and NBC will finish strong with the final 14, including the highly anticipated 10-race playoffs. And that’s not all — there’s an exciting new twist in the broadcast booth as well.

Whether you’re a hardcore NASCAR fan or just someone who loves the thrill of a fast race, the upcoming broadcasts are going to be a real treat. This star-studded trio will be calling the shots for TNT Sports and Amazon Prime, and we’re here for it. But before these heavyweights hit the airwaves, and as Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes a comeback in broadcasting, he has some words for his booth-mates!

Dale Earnhardt Jr. talks about his rule with co-workers!

Let’s break it down. First up: Dale Jr. himself. Now, he’s no stranger to the broadcast booth. Who could forget his debut at Chicagoland Speedway in 2018? Jr. had the crowd buzzing, especially when he screamed “slide job” after Kyle Busch passed Larson to snag the checkered flag. It’s clear — he’s got broadcasting in his blood. And just like a crew chief and driver need to be in sync, Dale Jr. knows the importance of working with a great team to make the broadcast flow smoothly.

Joining him in the booth are two seasoned pros. First, we have TNT’s Adam Alexander joining after a 19-year stint with Fox. Adam is a play-by-play expert who knows how to keep the action exciting. And let’s not forget about Steve Letarte, Jr.’s former crew chief at Hendrick Motorsports. Letarte’s deep knowledge of NASCAR and his knack for breaking down the strategy behind the racing will bring some serious depth to the coverage. He’s already shown off his talent on Jr.’s Dirty Mo Dough podcast, so we know he’s going to shine in the booth.

Even though Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Letarte have plenty of history together, this will be Jr.’s first time working alongside Alexander. But no worries — Dale Jr. is stoked about it. In a recent episode of The Dale Jr. Download, Jr. shared how excited he was to work with Alexander. He said, “When we made this announcement, I got a lot of text messages from people in the industry, how much I’m going to love working with Adam. So thankful to hear all of this because I don’t wanna broadcast with people that I don’t enjoy being around. I don’t wanna do anything in life around people that I don’t enjoy being around.”

Jr. is all about good vibes, and it sounds like Alexander fits the bill. “In a Broadcast booth, you are really close in proximity, absolutely I want those relationships to be great. There is great respect and appreciation for Adam in our industry. We are gonna have a lot of fun next year in those 10 races. We look forward to starting to get the process of prepping and making sure that we hit the ground running when we start our shows in June,” Jr. added.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Dale Jr. and his new team bring back the golden era of NASCAR commentary?

Have an interesting take?

Naturally, like in any work where there is a team effort, a bond and coordination are important and this shows exactly that. Dale Jr is pumped for the season to start and for him to work with these two and he and Alexander go way back.

In any good team, personal connections matter. Just ask Steve Letarte. When he made his debut in 2015, he credited “playing golf, going to dinners, and just casually spending time together” with Rick Allen and Jeff Burton for their success in the booth. It’s that kind of camaraderie that makes the broadcast click, and Dale Jr. hopes to bring that same vibe to his partnership with Alexander and Letarte.

Although Alexander may not have the same history with Dale Earnhardt Jr., their bond is already strong. Jr. opened up about how Alexander was one of the first people to reach out and offer support when he started broadcasting. “Everyone knows I love working with Steve and one thing I’ll say about Adam (Alexander) is I have never really worked with him but I have known him a long time. When I started broadcasting, most everybody in the NBC bubble was very supportive of course, giving me great feedback outside of the NBC family, Adam was really one of the few people that constantly was texting me, just saying nice things, just being supportive for no reason.

According to Jr, the broadcasting pro rooting for the rookie really talks about his character, “Other than just because he’s a good guy. Before then, I really had no real relationship with the dude. So it just speaks to his character,” Jr. added.

While Jr. may not share a history with Adam, he does have an established relationship with Steve Letarte. The former crew chief-driver duo worked together for four years at Hendrick Motorsports between 2011 and 2014. They finished in the top 10 in the driver’s standings thrice and claimed 5 wins together. Letarte also helped Dale Jr. break his 143-race winless streak at Michigan International Speedway in 2012. The chemistry between these two is undoubted, and it seems like Jr. will get along with Alexander too, just fine.

Alexander opened up about his honor to work with legends of the sport such as Dale Jr. and Letarte, saying, “I have great respect for Dale and Steve and look forward to calling races with them.

As for whether this trio will live up to the legendary NASCAR commentary teams of the past (like Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett, or Allen Bestwick, Benny Parsons, and Wally Dallenbach), only time will tell. But with their combined experience and mutual respect, it’s safe to say we’re in for an exciting ride.
