Junior is no stranger when it comes to head-related injuries sustained by drivers during crashes in NASCAR. Following the news of Alex Bowman and Kurt Busch’s head injuries, Junior stated he thinks that there are drivers in the current lineup who might have concussions but are still driving.

Junior stated, “We’re having more people, step up and say, I’ve got a concussion. Those are the, we got Kurt Busch and Alex Bowman who’s out of the race car, this year alone, with a concussion. And those are the only two were know about right?”

“Let’s not fool ourselves right? Drivers will get a concussion and race with it.”

He continued, “And would not shock me if several of these guys either got a concussion unknowingly and got back in the car or knew that they suffered some sort of a concussion in a crash and continued to race.”

“And so we only know about these two and that’s a big step up in percentages of people speaking out about having a problem in a certain in any particular year. So we certainly have a problem with this race car. They’re gonna you know NASCAR is gonna fix it.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. once suffered concussions himself

Earnhardt has himself been a victim of concussion-like symptoms. It was back in the day when he suffered from repeated concussions during wrecks.

During an interview on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Earnhardt stated, “I think if I hadn’t got married and had kids, and with that incident in 2016, I might still be racing today. When I only had myself to live for, I would probably be myself back in that same situation.”

Earnhardt sat out for almost half the 2016 season before returning to the car the next season and finally retiring.
