NASCAR can be a cut-throat world sometimes, and when people don’t perform up to standard, they are let go. Suffice to say, Dale Earnhardt Jr. knew that and was going to do the same to one of his Dale Earnhardt Inc employees. Recently, he and former DEI Vice President Ty Norris spoke about that moment.

The scene of the moment was when the two were discussing a New Year’s party. Dale Jr. was hosting it and he spoke to Norris about one particular employee. The 2-time Daytona 500 winner confessed that at that party, they went through “100, 150 cases” of beer in a single night.

What was different about that Dale Earnhardt Jr party?

The party featured many DEI employees, but there was a notable absence. As it turned out, Dale Jr went to Norris’ office and asked him to fire a particular fabricator. Dale Jr said“Well, I’ve got this party going on and I’m sending out invitations. And I don’t want to invite him. And if I don’t want to drink beer with him, I don’t want him working on my damn race car.”

Fortunately for that employee, he was not fired, as Dale Jr wanted him to. According to Norris, the fabricator remained with Dale Earnhardt Inc until it ceased to exist as a standalone team. It is worth mentioning though, that Earnhardt Jr and Norris were of the opinion that the fabricator was a “strange guy”.

Dale Earnhardt Inc had a fair amount of success in its NASCAR tenure. To be precise, the team romped to two Truck and two Xfinity titles. That was when Dale Jr himself clinched the 1998 and 1999 Xfinity Series titles, then called the Busch Series in the #3 car. Meanwhile, Ron Hornaday Jr snatched the 1996 and 1998 Truck Series titles while driving for the #16 truck.
