“Dale in a Late Model?” – NASCAR Fans Speculate Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Involvement at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2023

In a promotional video ahead of the Ally 400, Ally Racing posted a video on Twitter recently in which they showed how Dale Earnhardt Jr. designs a paint scheme. However, the one thing that caught many people’s eyes was a visual from the video regarding an iconic racetrack.

That racetrack is, of course, North Wilkesboro Speedway, which was recently announced to be going through a restoration process in order for it to get ready and fit for racing.

As one fan pointed out from one frame of the video, “What does Wilksboro 2023 mean?????” 

Well this, even Dale Jr. doesn’t know as he replied, “Damn I didn’t even see that! What could it be???”

But even more curious than that was the name, or rather, the hint of the name of NASCAR legend, Mark Martin, that spiraled the fans down the rabbit hole of suggesting possibilities as to what the whole deal could really be.

Many Fans, albeit, are still curious about what Earnhardt Jr had to say regarding his involvement in this matter.

After the announcement of the North Wilkesboro Speedway’s revival, Dale Earnhardt Jr opened up on his involvement with the whole thing in an episode of the Dale Jr. Download show.

This was all the more important, he felt because many believed he had some sort of monetary involvement in the project.

“I don’t have any monetary involvement, no ownership, I just have a passion and that’s all I own in the whole thing,” he said. “I just want to see this track do something.”

Earnhardt Jr. added that Marcus Smith, the owner of the track, has been on his show multiple teams and he did tease the possibility of “something happening with the track.” In fact, Smith thanked Dale Jr. specifically in the press conference of the announcement.

“A big thanks to Dale Earnhardt Jr who asked me about cleaning up the track back in December 2019, just for the purpose of cleaning it up for iRacing,” he said.

“I really think that was the catalyst that put things over the tipping point to get us where we are today.”
