As times change, new technologies are becoming available, and NASCAR is not the sport to get left behind. By 2035, the organizers have decided to make the sport have 0 net carbon emissions, a change we can see happen in Formula 1 too. However, while Formula E already exists, there is no electric variant for the loud American motorsport, and this has become a topic of intrigue. Many have wondered if NASCAR will be the same once the gasoline pumping stops.
To answer that question, NASCAR recently presented the first electrical prototypes to see how fast the electric vehicles are, and they are fast! During the tests, it was noticed that the prototypes were able to output double the horsepower compared to their gasoline counterparts. The electrical cars were made in collaboration with ABB, which is known to provide components for Formula E and despite sounding like NASCAR will be electrical soon, there is still a lot of time to come. So when fans caused an uproar after the unveiling of the new car, Dale Earnhardt Jr stepped in to share his thoughts on the same.
