Would a 51 lb halibut be considered a good catch? Because former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick just caught one and got inducted herself into a special club after doing so.

Patrick shared a post on her Instagram account in which she’s posing beside her catch. The NASCAR trailblazer also coupled her picture with a caption that had a fact about the halibut fish as well as an update about her joining the 50+ club.

“Did you know halibut have eyes on both side at first but it moves to one side and swims on it’s side on the bottom of the ocean? Neither did I,” her caption read.

“Caught a 51 LB halibut! I got a special hat even – 50+ LB club.”

Danica Patrick on whether supreme fitness is a compulsion in NASCAR

Goes without saying that racecar drivers are some of the fittest athletes in the world in terms of physical, mental, and emotional fitness. They have to be. Such are the demands of the insane factors and constraints a normal day at work has.

However, is it a compulsion to have peak fitness to be successful in motorsports?

Because Danica Patrick doesn’t think so, especially in the case of NASCAR drivers.

You don’t have to be that fit. Especially in NASCAR, there are some drivers you look at and think that they probably don’t work out that much. Physical fitness is important, but then you got guys like Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman and they do just fine,” she said.

A general amount of flexibility and some endurance is good. You get conditioned by doing the actual job itself. I am more fit than I need to be to do the job.”
