After a swift exit from New Hampshire Motor Speedway that landed him dead last, Kyle Busch is about to rock the racetrack at Pocono Raceway. In fact, even Racing Insights is placing their bets on him to seize victory in the HighPoint.com 400 on Sunday, trouncing Martin Truex Jr. And if he takes that No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to Victory Lane, it’ll be his fifth time conquering the “Tricky Triangle.” Just one more victory, and he’ll be chasing Denny Hamlin‘s tail, who’s currently sitting pretty with six Pocono wins under his belt.

“Three Wins Is Probably a Little Bit Ahead of Where I Thought We Would Be,” Says Kyle Busch

A year ago, Kyle Busch’s future hung in the balance, but now it seems he’s burning rubber with his stock car prowess, claiming three exhilarating victories in 2023. As the races unfold and the playoffs approach, Busch exudes an unshakeable belief in his abilities.

Yet he humbly admits that he’s the missing link in propelling his team, RCR, to the top of the playoff standings. He admitted during the interview with Bob Pockrass that four hurdles have held him and his team back, but he’s ready to tackle them head-on now.

As reported by Fox Sports, he said, I guess the three wins is probably a little bit ahead of where I thought we would be. But some of the consistency that I’ve not brought to the team, of speeding on pit road,  just issues on the racetrack, incidents on the racetrack, mistakes [I’ve made]—have been a lot. And that’s kind of set us behind.”

Moreover, Kyle Busch candidly pointed out that “The team and I have really pushed through and powered through many of those to be able to get good finishes on days that maybe we weren’t really seeing the potential for a good finish. If we can clean that up, we can be better than what we are right now… all the guys to continue to push and evolve and see any areas of weakness to work on.”

With his sights set on tightening up loose ends during pit stops and race execution, Busch is eager to enhance the speed of his #8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Throughout the year, his car has been a speed demon more often than not, and he’s determined to make it roar even louder.

After parting ways with long-time team Joe Gibbs Racing and facing an uncertain future in the sport, Busch’s fortunes took a turn for the better at RCR, and boy, has he been on fire! Three impressive victories have put him in a league of his own.

During the interview, when asked about this year’s highlight, Kyle’s eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but mention Fontana. “I would say the highlight of the year was probably [the win at] Fontana, just how early that happened and how out-of-the-box strong we were,” he exclaimed. “We ran really good at the Clash. We ran really good at Daytona. We went to Fontana, we won.”

Not to mention, the upcoming weekend will see Busch pull off a double-duty spectacle. First, he’ll be taking the wheel of the No. 51 KBM Chevrolet for the last of his scheduled five Trucks races this season. And then on Monday, he’ll be revving up for the Cup Series race at Pocono. Talk about a double treat for the fans who can’t get enough of this racing dynamo!
