Holding 7 Cup Series Championships, out of which 5 of them were consecutive, and tied with the likes of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr, Jimmie Johnson is a name that is revered in the NASCAR community. As if more was left to be said, after a Twitter post emerged showcasing the last 18 Cup Series Champions just ahead of the 19th NASCAR playoffs, fans were suddenly reminded of the ultimate Jimmie Johnson supremacy.

Johnson spent nearly two decades driving the number 48 car at Hendrick Motorsports, before finally announcing his retirement from NASCAR in 2020. However, that did not mean he retired from racing altogether. Johnson soon joined Chip Ganassi Racing for a part-time seat in the IndyCar series. Starting in 2022, he started racing in the IndyCar Series in a full-time capacity.

His outstanding performance in the sport made him the one NASCAR driver to ever win the Male Athlete of the Year award hosted by the Associated Press.
