Dale Earnhardt Jr‘s business venture in DirtyMo Media has created a lot of positive growth for NASCAR as a sport. A younger generation of fans has well-received the range of podcasts it hosts from Junior’s own ‘Dale Jr Download’ to Denny Hamlin‘s ‘Actions Detrimental’. A year since the latter officially launched, the two icons met together for an episode to discuss everything NASCAR, including their podcasts.

They discussed the gone-by-year and underwent a sort of performance overview when Hamlin revealed news about his podcast’s association with Kyle Larson and expressed a core regret that he had.

Denny Hamlin had one of the most action-filled years in 2023. Rivalries with both drivers and fans, he navigated through it all expertly until he didn’t. One of the key feuds that he picked in his journey was with his long-term friend Kyle Larson. Though the two drivers share a good relationship outside the track, their cars found each other constantly in many races across the schedule. These encounters often resulted in Larson getting frustrated after Hamlin took away his victories through sly tricks.

Now that the season is over and the duo have settled their differences, Hamlin revealed to Dale Earnhardt Jr that it was Larson who’d named his podcast. As Junior began conversing about the podcast’s nomenclature, Hamlin confessed, “Kyle Larson came up with that name, by the way.” Quite surprised by it, Junior replied, “Kyle did? It’s perfect! When I was here and names were being discussed, there were some good ones. But that’s perfect.”

The rivalry between Kyle Larson and Hamlin was so entertaining this year that it ended up being voted the best in the inaugural Fan Choice Awards. Further in his conversation with Junior, the Joe Gibbs Racing star talked about a regret that he had after a year of controversial podcast episodes.

Over his podcast episodes, Hamlin has drawn more flak than praise this year. His attitude and tone on the podcast episodes did not sit well with many and both rivals and fans were found seething at him. But Hamlin, true to his nature, is least concerned about that. As he heads to the next season of the podcast after a successful first year, he has one regret, which is about the timing in which he released his episodes.

Trying to understand his recording process, Junior asked him about the timings in which he shot the episodes. Revealing that he usually shot them on Monday mornings, Hamlin expressed his regret over the same. He said, “I actually regret not doing it more right after the race. No matter what the time was. Monday Morning sucks at times, right? You know, as a driver you cannot sleep anyway on race night. Might as well do it, whenever.”

Junior too agreed with the thought mentioning that his emotions and thoughts would be clearer right after the race than on Monday when he will have had time to get over things. The icons continued discussing much about their guest lists for 2024 and the horsepower issues in cars among other matters in the much-awaited episode.
