43-year-old veteran racer Denny Hamlin is now on top of the world after his stellar win at Bristol, snagging his first win of the season and getting Joe Gibbs Racing their second win of the season. While the veteran racked up a fourth win at ‘The Last Great Colosseum,” things were pretty different on Sunday; tire troubles were a common theme in the race, and the JGR teams really took advantage of this chaos to turn it around.

Speaking to Dale Earnhardt Jr following the race, Hamlin chimed in on the Dale Jr Download podcast, where he revealed his recent habit and conversations he’s been having with the JGR. Relaying the obvious to the JR Motorsports co-owner, Hamlin mentioned how the new habit made changes to his health, getting the driver hydrated and cool.

What is Denny Hamlin demanding?

It’s no wonder why racing is one of the most demanding sports on the planet. Unlike any other sport, here drivers are required to race in extreme heat at mind-bending speeds, all while disregarding their health and safety. While modern amenities in cars give the drivers all they require, like hydration packs and modern safety equipment, when they get nature’s calls, they have no option left.

Even though the intense sweating is a boon for a driver, reducing their urge to urinate, when things are dire, they have no option left other than to do it in the fire suit itself. Reflecting on this, where Dale Jr shared an interesting story Hamlin also revealed his friendly disagreement with the team. He said, “There’s many many text conversations between myself and JGR that say, Stop with the white suits.”

My favorite race track! We got another one,” said the driver on the radio as he crossed the checkered flag. As for the fans in the stands, they booed the driver like anything, as always, despite his spectacular run. It was his 52nd career win, and this locks him into the playoffs while RFK Racing driver and owner Brad Keselowski finished third in a Ford, Alex Bowman finished fourth, and Bowman’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.

Basking in his glory, Dale Jr on his podcast took the conversation to the next level, asking Hamlin, “Have you ever p**d in a race car?”

Chuckling along, Junior asked, “How did you go, your entire career?” To which Hamlin gave the perfect answer, “I don’t know. I… I just… The bladder was bigger, I guess, and it’s over time; I just don’t know what exactly it is, but, for me, I like it now because it keeps me drinking. I’ve had to stop drinking in the car, and so I wasn’t hydrating myself because I was in such pain, and now that I’m able to let it go, I’m able to keep hydrating throughout the race, and I love it.”

Hamlin then revealed he had approached his team to not give him white suits as it would reveal the stain but he still has to put up with it even after suggesting it. Moreover, Hamlin revealed the interior guy’s reaction when he was told about the situation inside the car. When asked about the same by Dale Jr whether he had told him right away, he said, “No, I told him this weekend when we got out in victory lane and he was like, damn it I got to wash this thing again.”
