If there’s anything other than racing that Denny Hamlin loves, it is arguably talking smack and poking the bear. The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran is infamous for the outspoken remarks. Even in the off-season, Hamlin has struck where it hurts the most. Recently, the veteran fired away a sarcastic shot at NASCAR with a Kevin Harvick reference.
In the wake of Trey Ryan’s tweet shedding light on the former SHR driver’s sheer dominance in NASCAR, the JGR veteran saw the opportunity to deliver a jab to the organization for its Cup format.

Denny Hamlin takes a sly dig at NASCAR following a Kevin Harvick Reference
2023 was a heartbreak year for veteran Kevin Harvick and his fans in general. The sport lost one of its top drivers as the Stewart-Haas Racing driver bid farewell to the sport after an illustrious career spanning across more than 2-decades. You’d probably just need one look at the driver’s stats to know what kind of impact he has had on the sport.
During his reign, “Happy” Harvick has 60 wins and 444 top 10s with 31 poles. Now, that isn’t something you see every day. Though the veteran took the throne in the initial Cup Series race after NASCAR introduced the new format in 2014, he hasn’t been able to do anything significant ever since, despite his dominance for the past 10 years in the sport.
Don’t believe us? Well, look at the numbers for yourself. You’ll realize how the current format can put drivers like Harvick in a precarious position. Now, coming to the meat of the matter, Ryan, the self-proclaimed ‘stats guy’ put out a tweet as a tribute to Harvick. In his post, we see the #4 driver at the top in 20 odd sections, including number of wins, top-5s, and top-10s. He even has led a whopping 11632 laps in the past ten years more than any driver.

Despite all these achievements, Harvick still has the one title he won in 2014. With the veteran reposting the tweet, Hamlin took notice.
The #11 driver then added an insult to NASCAR when a fan mentioned that Harvick should’ve won more titles than the only one he has in his resume. Hamlin, in response, wrote, “Not under this [playoff] system.”
Not under this system 😂

Harvick’s 5-year-old daughter Piper secures an exciting podium finish
It was Harvick’s son Keelan, who first made it big, winning the Legends championship, proving he is more than just a fluke.
